Define Reports

Last Updated 5/29/2012 10:33 AM
The Define Reports command enables users to quickly generate reports without the need to write a script. A wizard allows you to select the model you wish to report from, choose the layout and select what you want to report. You can report from either models or transactional models, by simply stepping through the wizard.

To create a new report select Define Reports from the Publishing folder, and you will be presented with the following screen:

Select the 'Create a new Report' option, select the model you wish to report from and enter in a name for the report to be saved under:

Depending on whether you are reporting from a cube model (highlighted by the C suffix) or a transaction model (highlighted by the T suffix), you will then be prompted to define the layout and format for your report.

Reporting from a Cube Model

For a Cube Model, the next step is to select which dimension you want displayed as rows and which dimensions displayed as columns. The default will be Measures as rows and Periods as columns. You can change this if you wish to select a different dimension. Note that if you select more than one dimension for rows and/or columns, this will laminate the displays. Be careful using this feature as you could end up creating very large reports.
